HOW IT WORKS
Activate Dance Awards is an exciting awards program designed to motivate and support dance students on their path to excellence. We want to acknowledge and reward their hard work and dedication.
We know that it's important to track progress without the stress of formal exams. ADA offers an easy way for dance teachers to assess their students' growth.
Whether you're a dance school or a parent looking to inspire your child to enjoy physical activity, ADA provides a flexible awards system that can be easily used to encourage and celebrate every dancer's unique journey.
Encouraging children from a young age to explore dance, has many positive effects in and outside of the studio. Dancing regularly is a really great way to keep fit and stay active. It improves strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Learning routines involves memory and cognitive challenges that can really boost these skills, like memorising choreography, timing, and rhythm. In addition, it is also proven to help teach discipline, focus, and confidence - essential transferable skills that can positively impact their experience in school and in many other areas of life.
Being part of a dance school gives a chance to exercise social skills, working as a team and supporting their peers in a safe environment. It allows children to express themselves creatively, and especially for some who may find the regular educational system a little more difficult. Studies have shown that using creative arts is an incredible tool to help release stress and anxiety. Allowing them to use it as a form of self-regulating therapy for the mind and body.
It also helps them become more aware of their own bodies in a positive environment, and encourages them to find out what they are capable of achieving.
Motivating children to embrace dance enriches their lives in many ways and sets them on a path to a brighter, healthier, and more confident future.
Many children with ADD, ADHD. And Autism are creative and in search of creative outlets. Dancing engages motor skills, which stimulates the artistic juices, so by lighting up this part of the brain with physical activity and music, increases your dopamine levels, which helps overall function, enhances ability to concentrate, emotionally regulate and feel good.
Dopamine is a reward brain chemical, and levels rise when we complete a significant or pleasurable task, such as winning a race or finishing a project. Therefore, by attending dancing and having an award system in place, can really boost these chemical levels, and ultimately resulting in better focus and concentration, and motivation and a place to release all that extra energy!

Totalling 270 week of attendance. At the end of each week, dance teachers will give students stickers to fill out their book. Then once a student completes the set number of weeks, they will receive a special award and certificate, marking an important milestone in their dance education.
Our dance teachers are essential in this part of the process. They provide valuable insights into each child's progress and write feedback on their certificates to highlight their accomplishments and growth over the weeks. These awards are more than just recognition of attendance; they are a reason to celebrate hard work and dedication. Whether it's a special announcement in class, a chance to share their achievements on social media, or even full out awards night with parent’s attendance, there are so many ways you can take this award system and make your own traditions within your dance company to celebrate.
Active Dance Awards offer a great way for parents to be supportive in their child's dance journey. One of the main advantages of ADA is that they create a structured rewards system without the pressure and formalities of regular exams. It is more the celebration of a student’s hard work and dedication to dance.
This system allows parents to monitor their child's progress and use it as a motivation to keep going. By including Active Dance Awards in your child's dance education, you not only support their artistic development but also actively engage in their interests. It's a win-win situation where children excel in their dance passion, and parents get to be part of celebrating that achievement with them.
At our award program, we know that parents play a vital role in their child's development. We love to encourage parents who want to work with their children individually with their own rewards system. Our program is designed to be flexible and family-friendly. Parents can get involved in their child's progress by giving a sticker each week to recognise their achievements from home.
When it's time to write the certificate, we suggest you talk to your child's dance teacher for valuable feedback on your child's progress during the weeks of learning. This collaborative approach gives more much more detailed information you need to complete the certificate. We believe that family celebrations are a great way to show support and share in the joy of your child's journey to success.

When it comes to grading and recognising students in the world of dance, teachers employ a comprehensive approach to assess various facets of a student's performance and dedication. Here's a breakdown of how teachers grade each award for their students:
Passion and Dedication:
• Assessment: Teachers evaluate whether students show genuine enthusiasm and commitment to improving their dance skills.
Physical Ability:
• Assessment: This category includes factors like flexibility, balance, coordination, and strength. Teachers assess a student's physical capabilities and how they apply them in their dance routines.
>Technique:
• Assessment: Teachers analyse elements such as posture, alignment, and the execution of dance movements to ensure students demonstrate proper technique.
Musicality:
• Assessment: Students are evaluated on their ability to synchronize their movements with the music, creating a more engaging and expressive performance.
Work Ethic:
• Assessment: This criterion evaluates whether students put in extra practice and effort where needed to continually improve their dance skills.
Performance Presence Within Classes:
• Assessment: Teachers look for indications of stage presence and confidence during class, which prepares students for stage performances.
Teamwork:
• Assessment: Students are evaluated on their ability to interact positively with others and their capacity to dance alongside their peers in a harmonious and collaborative manner.
Resilience:
• Assessment: Recognizing that dance can be both physically and mentally demanding, teachers assess whether students can overcome obstacles and challenges, consistently pushing themselves to improve.
Attitude and Respect:
• Assessment: Teachers consider a student's attitude, ensuring they bring a positive mindset to class, as well as their level of respect for class instructors/teachers and fellow students.
Attendance and Punctuality:
• Assessment: Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for individual progress in dance and for the success of group performances. Teachers closely monitor students' attendance and punctuality.
By evaluating students across these criteria, dance instructors can offer well-rounded feedback and recognition, fostering growth and development in their students' dance journeys.
Evaluating students is a crucial part of their education. Not every student will excel in everything, so it's vital to give them helpful feedback, encouragement, and guidance to help them improve. This empowers each student to develop their skills and reach their full potential.
